Allen Davis, PhD is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University and the Director of the Basic Language Program in Spanish. His teaching philosophy stresses the importance of making connections in the classroom—connections between students and teacher, the classroom and the real world, and between the students themselves. He has been recognized by the university’s Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) for his dedication to education and his work in diversity, equity, and inclusion. DEI work is also present in the courses he teaches, from intermediate Spanish, Spanish Composition, Spanish Phonetics, to Foreign Language Teaching Methods. His research also focuses on connections, those between musical aptitude and learning the pronunciation of a second language.
